When Cornelia Trimble's second husband, A.N. Hopkins was killed in a gunfight in 1863, he left her the owner of 550 acres along Onion Creek. She platted the town, naming it Du Pre, on a Friday, advertised the sale of the lots, ranging from $60 -$100 in the Austin American Statesman and sold them on Saturday, April 2, 1881. Buda was quietly born in 2 days! |
